Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) utilizes the electric transmission right-of-way located on your property. The electric transmission lines on this right-of-way are essential for PSE&G to meet its commitment to provide safe, proper and adequate electric service to consumers throughout New Jersey. Maintaining proper tree clearance from the power lines is absolutely necessary to assure:
• The continued safety of homeowners living near the transmission lines,
• The safety of PSE&G employees and contractors working on the power lines, and
• The reliability of the electric utility system.
The number and size of overgrown trees and other vegetation on the right-of-way now requires maintenance of the right-of-way. As such, Nelson Tree Service Inc., a private contractor working for PSE&G, will REMOVE ALL TREES that have the ability to mature over 3 feet in height in the wire zone (land located directly under the widest portion of the transmission line conductors). Vegetation in the wire zone will be managed to promote grasses and a low-growing plant community to obtain a meadow effect where possible. In the border zone (land from the edge of the transmission line wire zone to the outer boundary of the right of way), where clearance permits, PSE&G may allow compatible vegetation, which will be determined on a case by case basis based on site specific conditions and specific species growth habit PSE&G will also SIDE TRIM all tree branches originating from outside the Right-of Way that bang over or cross onto PSE&G's transmission right-of-way. The resulting debris from this activity, brush and wood, will be removed unless otherwise requested by property owner
prior to start of work. This work should begin, weather permitting, on or about Feb 1 and should be completed in approximately 10 days.
