JCP&L’s Montville-Whippany 230 kV Transmission Project Print E-mail

BACKGROUND:  On March 27, 2015, JCP&L filed an application with the Board of Public Utilities seeking to construct a transmission line between its substations in East Hanover and Montville.  This line will run through the Township of Montville and this section of the Township’s website is dedicated to providing the public with any updates regarding this application.

Update #4 (5/21/15):  This week the Township’s Expert Engineering Consultant has completed his initial phase of due diligence and will be meeting with the Township Committee in executive session at the Township Committee’s meeting on June 9th to discuss various issues with respect to organizing and opposition strategy.  Meanwhile, the Motion to Intervene has been received by the BPU and we are awaiting a decision from the BPU so that Montville may officially and formally participate in this application.

Update #3 (5/14/15):  There are no new updates to report.

Update #2 (5/1/15): The Township of Montville has filed its Motion to Intervene in JCP&L’s petition before the Board of Public Utilities for its proposed Montville-Whippany 230 kV Transmission Project. In filing this Motion, the Township hopes that it will have an opportunity before the Board to be fully heard as to the Township’s objections to JCP&L’s proposed transmission line.  A copy of the Motion can be viewed here.

We will continue to post weekly updates here regarding this matter.
