Montville Township Environmental Commission
March 16, 2011
Meeting began promptly at 7:00pm.
ROLL CALL. Absent with excuse: Michele Caron, Andrew Pappachen
Present: Monica Mianecki, Sergio
Angione, Vic Canning, Angelo Intile, Larry Kornreich, Hugh Merritt, Tim Braden, Garry Annibal.
SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS
Board of Adjustment –.Michele Caron absent, no report.
Board of Education – Hugh Merritt reports that Michele Caron spoke with the
superintendant regarding a landscaping project at the new Board of Education
Building. He will meet with Dr. Fried
next week.
Economic Development – Monica Mianecki reports that they are working on
updating the website to link with the Township website. The Farmers Market will not happen because
there is no interest.
Health Department – Garry Annibal has no report.
Open Space Committee – Angelo Intile states that there will be a proposal done
for the Trails project. There is
discussion regarding the Township purchasing the property located next to
Seabreeze.
Planning Board – Victor Canning has no report.
Township Committee – Tim Braden
has no report.
NEW BUSINESS
Wetlands application for 21
Benafly, Towaco – Larry Kornreich will follow up with Anthony Barile. The property is located in the aquifer.
Goals for 2011 – Larry Kornreich
would like the members of the board to compile a list of objectives for the
current years.
Goals for 2010 – All completed:
Expand outreach with schools, Responses to application even if no comment, work
with other boards which did not arise, trails and bike paths is still being
planned.
OLD BUSINESS
Ponds – Hugh Merritt states the application for the permit has
been denied because the carp could escape from the waterways. Mr. Tom Mazzaccaro will speak to Tony Barile to find a solution.
Trails - Angelo Intile has no update.
Arbor Day - Sergio Angione
states he’s trying to get updates from Michele Caron.
Recycling Day - April 30, 2011 - Sergio
Angione states the Township approved the petting zoo but denied the kids rides.
He has not been able to get an update from Michele Caron.
Landscape Registration
Ordinance – After some discussion it was decided that
this would be an educational project.
Lake Valhalla - Letter
was send to Land Use with the comments.
OTHER BUSINESS
American Water and Anjec offer grants. Due date is March 25th. Angelo Intile suggests having a Rockaway
Valley Clean up. Monica Mianecki suggests asking Anthony Barile if there are
any projects.
Motion made by Hugh Merritt, to allow Garry Annibal to sign
the grant application with Anjec.
Seconded by Sergio Angione.
MINUTES
On a motion
made by Vic Canning, the February 16, 2011 minutes were approved.
Seconded by Angelo
Intile, all in favor by voice vote
ADJOURNMENT
On a motion made by Garry Annibal
and seconded by Vic Canning the meeting was adjourned at 7:55 pm
