Montville Township Environmental Commission
April 20, 2011
Meeting began promptly at 7:30pm.
ROLL CALL. Absent with excuse: Hugh Merritt
Absent without excuse: Tim Braden
Present: Monica Mianecki, Sergio
Angione, Michele Caron, Vic Canning, Angelo Intile, Larry Kornreich, Andrew
Pappachen and Garry Annibal.
SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS
Board of Adjustment –.Michele Caron has no report.
Board of Education – Hugh Merritt absent but a written report was submitted
stating that he spoke with Dr. Fried regarding landscaping the front of the BOE
office, educating students on the Towaco Aquifer, Recycling activities in the
schools and more involvement of schools and students in structured
environmental education. He will work with the
MC Master Gardeners, Rutgers, Morris
County College,
local garden club and landscapers to see what can be done.
Economic Development – Monica Mianecki reports that Holiday at Montville received their
approval. The township received a grant
for $450,000 from Open space to be used to purchase new land or pay for
property already purchased. There will
be organic farming at Indian Lane
East.
Health Department – Garry Annibal has no report.
Open Space Committee – Angelo Intile has no report. Angelo suggests asking the Township Committee
to put crosswalks and “Share the Road” signs on Changebridge Road.
Planning Board – Victor Canning has no report.
Township Committee – Tim Braden absent,
no report.
OLD BUSINESS
Ponds – Garry Annibal states that the grant application has been
sent. Sergio Angione will speak with Mr.
Sisco regarding the fencing he uses in his pond.
Trails - Angelo Intile has no update.
Arbor Day - Michele Caron
reports that the poster contest was completed and the winner was notified.
Recycling Day - April 30, 2011 -
Sergio Angione states that a solar panel company will be attending. Larry
Kornreich will notify Tom Mazzaccaro to have cones set up.
Goals for 2011- Larry
Kornreich went over the list and asked for the members to bring any additional
items to the May meeting.
Presentation at May Meeting
- Sergio Angione states that all
departments should be invited. He will
write a letter to be sent out.
NEW BUSINESS
Tree City USA – Michele
Caron would like to see signs erected in the Township. She would like to approach all the Civic
Associations to donate the signs.
Angelo Intile made a motion to
conclude discussions about Tree City
USA signs since
the Township Committee does not support erecting of the signs. Seconded by
Andrew Pappachen.
Garry Annibal states that getting
the recognition matters and that the commission should still pursue this.
OTHER BUSINESS
None
MINUTES
On a motion
made by Sergio Angione, the March 16, 2011 minutes were approved.
Seconded by Garry
Annibal, all in favor by voice vote
ADJOURNMENT
On a motion made by Angelo Intile
and seconded by Sergio Angione the meeting was adjourned at 8:55pm.
