ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION
MINUTES OF MARCH 21, 2012
CALL TO ORDER
Meeting began promptly at 7:30pm.
STATEMENT OF COMPLIANCE
“As required by the Open Public
Meetings Act, adequate notice of this meeting has been provided. The notice specified the time and place of
the meeting to the extent known at the time.
The notice was posted on the bulletin board at the Municipal Building,
sent to the Daily Record and placed on file in the Township Clerk’s office”.

Present: Monica Mianecki, Michele
Caron, Larry Kornreich, Andrew Pappachen, Garry Annibal, Deb
Nielson, Alex Nesterok and Keith Lee
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Board of Adjustment –.Michele Caron has no report.
Planning Board - Larry Kornreich will be the new Planning Board Liaison.
Board of Education – No report
Economic Development – Monica Mianecki reports there were no Environmental
issues discussed.
Health Department – Garry Annibal reports that DEP did compliance testing
and Plausha Park did not pass. Garden
State Landscape Products is looking to have topsoil and mulch at 322
Changebridge Road.
Open Space Committee – Angelo Intile absent, no report.
Township Committee – Deb Nielson
has no report.
PUBLIC DISCUSSION
Cliff Seipel, 14 Underwood Road-
Rockaway River Watershed Commission - He states there is a concern regarding
the garbage that is in the river. 20
families are still homeless in Lake Hiawatha. There is still a lot of debris
and tree branches in the river and along the riverbed. DEP permits are required
for all work that is to be completed. Deb Nielson
states that the Township Committee will contact the County to get this project
started.
COORESPONDANCE
Lake Valhalla Club - Access Road -
Andrew Pappachen will attend meeting with the Township Committee Subcommittee
and Lake Valhalla.
MINUTES
On a motion made by Garry Annibal,
the January 18, 2012 minutes were approved, seconded by Monica Mianecki.
Approved by voice vote.
On a motion made by Monica
Mianecki, the February 15, 2012 minutes were approved, seconded by Al Nesterok.
Approved by voice vote.
OLD BUSINESS
NRI update - There will be a
training component taught to the Commission and the public to decipher species.
All members are in support of applying for grant application for $9000.
April Events - Poster Contest -
Commission members voted on Posters at March meeting.
April 27th - Arbor Day
at 8:30am. Hugh Merritt will be the
Honoree.
April 28th - Recycling
Day - Cintas, Urban Renewal, Pedals for Progress.
Environmental Handbook will be
discussed once grant is received.
NEW BUSINESS
Fall Event - Rain Barrel event,
Andrew Pappachen, Monica Mianecki and Michele Caron will be on this committee.
Larry Kornreich will speak with Hugh Merritt to see if he is interested in
helping.

On a motion made by Garry Annibal
and seconded by Michele Caron the meeting was adjourned at 8:29pm.
