Montville Township Committee Special Meeting
Friday, June 20, 2008, 10:00 a.m.
Montville Township Municipal Building, 195 Changebridge Road, Montville, New Jersey
10:00 a.m. – Statement of Open Public Meetings Act Compliance read by Frank Bastone, Township Administrator: “As required by the Open Public Meetings Act, Notice of this meeting has been provided which Notice specified the time and place of the meeting to the extent known at that time. The Notice was posted on the bulletin board at the Municipal Building, mailed to The Daily Record, The Star Ledger, and The Citizen as well as other newspapers and it was placed on file in the Township Clerk’s office in accordance with the emergency provisions of the Open Public Meetings Act.”

RESOLUTIONS:
NO. 1 – RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPOINTMENT OF FRANK BASTONE AS ACTING TOWNSHIP CLERK:
WHEREAS, Gertrude Atkinson serves as Township Clerk to the Township of Montville; and
WHEREAS, there is no deputy clerk to handle the responsibilities of the Township Clerk during her absences for vacation or otherwise; and
WHEREAS, Frank Bastone has agreed to serve as Acting Township Clerk during the periods of time when the Township Clerk is absent from her office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Committee of the Township of Montville, County of Morris and State of New Jersey, that Frank Bastone is hereby appointed as Acting Township Clerk and is authorized to function as Acting Township Clerk during periods of the absence of Township Clerk Gertrude Atkinson from her office.
Motion: Nielson. Second: Daughtry. Roll call vote – Daughtry, yes; Sandham, yes; Bader, yes; Braden, absent; Nielson, yes. Resolution adopted.
NO. 2 – RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF THE 2009 NJDOT LOCAL AID APPLICATION FOR THE VREELAND AVENUE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT: Total estimated cost $240,600. Grant request $180,000.
WHEREAS, 2009 Local Aid Funds are available through the New Jersey Department of Transportation; and
Whereas, the Township Committee of the Township of Montville has identified the Vreeland Avenue Improvement Project as the Township’s priority project for 2008.
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Township Committee of the Township of Montville, in the County of Morris and State of New Jersey, formally approves the grant application for the above stated project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Township Administrator and Clerk are hereby authorized to submit an electronic grant application identified as MA-2009-Montville Township-00714 to the New Jersey Department of Transportation on behalf of the Township of Montville.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Township Administrator and Clerk are hereby authorized to sign the grant agreement on behalf of the Township of Montville and that their signature constitutes acceptance of the terms and conditions of the grant agreement and approves the execution of the grant agreement.
Motion: Daughtry. Second: Nielson. Roll call vote – Daughtry, yes; Sandham, yes; Bader, yes; Braden, absent; Nielson, yes. Resolution adopted.
