OLD
BUSINESS
Mr. Kachmar
attended the Planning Board hearing on this issue and summarized the EDC’s
goals & Objectives. The membership
appreciated him and others attending that evening’s meeting.
Members reviewed
the matrix. Members felt that there were
adequate controls with existing municipality’s ordinances as well as the
restrictions imposed by DEP.
Consensus of
members was that we should continue to regulate our township locally, and felt
we should unanimously opt out. Mrs.
White will send this info to the Planning Board as part of their deliberations
on the issue. Motion made by: Deane Driscoll, seconded by Dick Vreeland
Ms. Sanders
indicated that the township website will be updated by an independent company
that will provide a video of different areas within the municipality. If you go to the website on front page, click
on this area for some examples. Any
member having areas they feel should be considered should send in info. They will highlight different businesses,
places in community, etc. Members
requested to send in their input to the Township Administrator.
Ms. Sanders and
Mr. Speciale indicating they are ordering pendants which will be displayed from
lighting poles along corridor, and are going to use as much marketing as they
can within our local newspaper and on web.
Mrs. White
indicated that perhaps we should also consider contacting our industrial owners
and let them know the Township increased the percentage of retail allowed
within their facility.
Discussion
ensued. There are many businesses within
the community that the residents are totally unaware of, and ways to promote
this should be expanded on, especially in today’s bleak economic climate.
After this
discussion, the goals of 2010 may be the promotion of our existing commercial
and industrial base, and assist in whatever ways we can to get our local
businesses thriving, educating our residents on benefits existing in their own
community.
Ms. Sanders and
several others felt that this day was a success, and that our local restaurants
participated in ‘a taste of Montville’
which let many know what existed in township.
This also cost a lot less than prior years, and all in all was a
success.
Mrs.
White indicated she updates this as often as possible, and sends to the
webmaster. Not sure it that has been
reflected on our website.
Mr. Vreeland
volunteered his services to taking minutes when needed.
Adoption of EDC minutes of 9-16-09
OTHER
Mr. Soussa noted
that there is a maintenance code violation immediate next to the new
professional offices for Dr. Keating on River Road. Mrs. White will have her inspector address
and resolve.
